Chappelle Showcase

Chappelle's Show

Take a deeper look into the show that immediately became one of Comedy Central's most popular hits and made Dave one of the richest men in cable television. Debuting in 2003, Chappelle's Show is vulgar, immature, controversial, hilarious and most importantly, smart.

Famous Skits:

Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories - Actual true stories narrated by Charlie Murphy, Eddie's Brother, about fame in the 80's:
Rick James - You know, the skit that made everyone think they were funny by quoting it and saying "I'm Rick James, Bitch!" It's still funny, just only when Dave does it.
Prince - Charlie and his crew plays Prince and the Revolution in basketball. Prince dominates, then makes pancakes.

The Mad Real World - a white kid moves into the Real World house in the Ghetto of New Jersey with all black roommates. White guy's Dad gets stabbed, and oh yes, "Katie's got some big titties."

Playa Hater's Ball - Guest Starring Ice T, this is one of the funniest sketches Dave has ever done. According to the DVD commentary on season one, most of the acting and jokes were improvised and made up as they went along; Such as an on-point parody of HBO's serious documentary on pimps.

Niggar Family - VERY CONTROVERSIAL, but so smart and well done. Done in a 50's black and white motif, Dave takes every opportunity and chance to say the family's name and mock racial stereotypes.

LIL John - Yeaaaaa! Whhhhhaattttttt? Yeaaaaaaa!

Wayne Brady - Wayne flips on Dave after "making Bryant Gumble look like Malcolm X." A Training Day theme goes on throughout the sketch and this is another example of both how smart and funny Dave is, but also credit is due to Brady.

Music:

Dave loves hip-hop and rap. It is reflected in his style, his attitude and most apparently in Chappelle's Show. Rappers such as Mos Def and Snoop Dogg have made acting cameos on the show and every episode usually ends with a musical performance by a hip-hop artist. Below are just a few who have graced the Chappelle's Show stage:
